What is RSS ?

RSS stands for Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication

File Extn: .rss, .xml
Really Simple Syndication
RSS

As the name implies it’s an xml application which broadcast news and other web updates to users. It contains information about the title, description, link, date and time of the website. To get the up-to-date information quickly RSS is a most powerful tool. To run this application visitors need RSS reader (news aggregator or feed reader).  To subscribe feeds users either enter a feed's URL (XML file) into the reader or click on the browser's feed icon.  Now there is no need to bookmark the interested web links to visit again and again for checking updates. Whenever RSS link is clicked, URL of the feed is provided to it. Some readers will auto-detect an XML file. Now Every time when the feed is updated, RSS reader will show the updated information. RSS feeds related to the content add value to the site. With the coming of this software application email updates is becoming an obsolete trend.
